about Rachel:
I began teaching in Gilbert in 1997 and have taught grades 7-12. I currently am assigned to teach students in AP English Language, and I absolutely LOVE my career. There is something unique about juniors. They enter relatively naive about the world and during the year, they enter into driving, dating, awkwardness and discovery. I love watching them as they grow into themselves and continue on their journey of figuring out who they will become. It is truly a joy to go to school every day and spend time with them. ----- I became a NBCT in November 2008 and joined many others in the pursuit of excellence in education. I believe in the process because I believe in the profession and the students that benefit from great teaching and learning. ----- I am also heavily active in the AEA. It is important to give back to our profession as it is to give to our students. If we want others outside to consider us as professionals, we need to act as such and become strong advocates for our students, our schools, and ourselves.
