I don't know, Penny, but I do know of a couple!!! One is, Polleverywhere.com. This is a polling site, where people can text their answer....
Another texting site is reactee.com . This one is sort of a broadcast system where you can type a message, like homework assignment, or message to parents (i.e. Field Trip on Tuesday), and then to receive the message you text a certain number....It is really cool! A middle school in my district is dabbling in this!
Another site that we used in our class at Leadership is etherpad.com. This is a collaborative space that you can use in real time......for short term use, like a quick brainstorm, or anything short and collaborative!
Also, chatzy.com is a chat program, that all you do is send the kids the link, and then you have an automatic back-channel in the classroom. My friend in my PLN used this site as the kids were presenting their digital projects, as a way for kids to ask questions and give feedback. It was very cool to watch. She invited me in to "watch" and participate, as they are in Nebraska, and I of course, am here in Arizona....I could not see the presentations, but I could definately see the chat, and I was part of it... It was one of the most interesting things I have done all year! You should check it out....
